Newport St Gallery
This cavernous and bright space is the perfect chamber to display Damien Hirst's own private art collection.
Located in Vauxhall, south London, exhibitions vary between solo and group shows and admission to the gallery is free.
The 37,000 square foot gallery space, designed by architects Caruso St John, was converted from three listed buildings, purpose built in 1913 to serve as scenery painting studios for London's theatre industry.
The soaring interiors - reaching heights of 11 metres - are breathtaking and the whole space is lit beautifully by the roof lights piercing through the structure's unique slanted ceilings.
Featured artists include Francis Bacon, Banksy, Tracey Emin, Richard Hamilton, Jeff Koons, Sarah Lucas, Pablo Picasso, Richard Prince, Haim Steinbach and Gavin Turk, as well as a number of young and emerging artists and a significant collection of indigenous artists from the Pacific Northwest Coast.
After your visit, take a trip upstairs to Pharmacy 2; Hirst's brand new restaurant to enjoy a much more colourful, but no less beautiful environment.
