Crazy Bear

The Fitzrovia branch of the Crazy Bear hotel and restaurant group, serves a thai fusion menu, as well as a typically English afternoon tea.
Seated in the (rather cramped) ground floor restaurant, we were served a glass of champagne whist choosing from the long list of teas. Food arrived on a three-tiered stand; a selection of sandwiches; coronation chicken being a highlight, followed by scones and mini cakes and pastries including a carrot slice, lemon cake, a fruit pie and a chocolate biscuit brownie.
The opulent decor - including a somewhat controversial stuffed baby giraffe - verges on tacky, but redeems itself in the downstairs cocktail bar, which is dark, moody and eclectic.
Like Sketch, it's worth a visit to the toilets, which are disguised behind false panelling in the walls and completely mirrored inside. I'm sure the odd drunk person gets stuck inside for hours.
