Back in 5 Minutes
Hidden behind a back doorway within a nondescript Brick Lane shop, we discovered the secret supper-club Back in 5 Minutes.
Disappearing Dining Club - the hosts of these candle lit soirees - aim to bring people together to enjoy great food and drink in private and unusual spaces around London. Past dinners have included venues such as
lighthouses, launderettes, churches and abandoned music venues.
Offered at 3 courses for £35 (with a welcome cocktail), the food is seasonal, elegant and beautifully cooked. The menu offers three starters, mains and desserts, and includes dishes such as Seared Scallops with White Chocolate & Salmon Caviar Beurre Blanc, and Chorizo Crusted Salmon Fillet Baked with Fennel, Croutons and Roullie. They taste as good as they sound. I could have eaten my dessert of Vanilla Bavaroise with Blood Orange and Basil another three times over.
Diners are friendly and there's a collective sense of initiation into a secret society. I almost feel guilty letting the secret out.
